Spent the morning poking around the antique shops in the Prawirotaman area of Yogya. Found several wooden carvings that we just couldn’t pass up. Of course, then we had to figure out how to get them home. Purchased a bag on our Air Asia flight to Singapore then bundled up the figurines in spare clothes, a large plastic bag, and oodles of packing tape.

In the afternoon, headed off to see the beautiful Hindi Prambanan Temple complex. We had arranged transportation with a tour company and it turned out we were the only customers. At the site, we paid for a guided tour for the first hour which was quite informative. It focused on the central area of Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Nandi, Garuda, and Angsa Temples. Didn’t realize just how big the site was and as a result we were rather rushed to see it. Saw Candi Lumbung just to the north but didn’t make it to Candi Bubrah or Sewu. Next stop on the tour was to view the sunset at Candi Ijo. Magnificent views of Mount Merapi and the setting sun. Driver took us back to the Prambanan Temple for a tasty buffet dinner overlooking the lit up temples. After dinner, it was time for the theatre. Watched the Ramayana Ballet outdoors at the Prambanan Theatre. Amazing costuming and an English translation (of sorts) was provided on a prompter. Back late to our hotel to prepare for an early morning flight to Singapore.
