Started the day seeing the sights of “Yogja”. Hired a becak (bicycle rickshaw) for the morning and toured the city. Started with the huge palace of the sultans of Yogya, the kraton. Next stop the Taman Sari, a splendid pleasure park of palaces, pools and waterways for the sultan and his entourage. Dropped off at the Pasar Beringharjo (the main market) to check out the merchandise and grab a quick bit to eat. After lunch, made our way up Malioboro Street hunting for batiks and bargains at the sidewalk stalls. After a much needed beer we headed back to the hotel for a quick dip in the pool. Dinner at a small cafe for an unusual but tasty beef rendang pizza.
