7:30 am flight Wednesday to Singapore then bused to our hotel on Bencoolen Street. Great location for an easy walk to Chinatown. Checked out all the cool junk on Trengganu St then stopped for a lunch of Chinese dumplings and spring rolls on Smith St. Visited the Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple (the city’s oldest Hindu temple built in 1827), the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum, and finally the Thian Hock Keng Hokkien Temple dedicated to Ma Zu, the Taoist Goddess of the Sea. Had dinner on Clarke Quay at the disappointing Octapas Spanish Tapas Bar. In the evening, strolled along the Singapore River as far as the Fullerton Hotel before circling back to our hotel.
