Took the subway to Little India and made our way to the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple. Watched the Hindi devotees come to prayer. Wandered through the streets until we reached the Masjid Sultan (1824), the landmark Islamic house of worship in Kampong Glam. Haggled for some amazing textile bargains on Arab Street (four kilim cushion covers) then on past Raffles (closed for a reno) towards the National Museum. Had a quick bite to eat before going inside to see the excellent exhibits on a free tour. Took the subway to the Marina Bay Sands in order to catch the sunset at the hotel’s top floor. Had $$$$ coffee, cocktails, and calamari while taking in amazing views of all of Singapore. Admired the hotel’s famous infinity pool and watched the evening light show at “Gardens By The Bay” from above. Walked back towards the hotel along the bay and stopped at “The Promontory” to watch the light show at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel then headed to Boat Quay for dinner by the river at a Korean Pancake house.
Next morning, it was time to explore “Gardens By The Bay”. Took the subway there then walked among the giant grove of Supertrees. Next stop was the two domes. Flower Dome was gigantic air-conditioned glass greenhouse offering themed gardens with many exotic plants. Cloud Forest Dome was filled with the lush vegetation of the tropical highlands and had a towering waterfall. An elevator whisked you to the top and you meandered down through the mist on cantilevered paths. Back to Chinatown for lunch at a Hawker Centre then visited the Chinatown Heritage Centre museum before going back to our hotel. Picked up our luggage and headed to the airport for our evening flight to Hong Kong.
Over-nighted at the Regal Airport Hotel at HKG and caught our flight to YVR at 12:30 the next day (July 7th)
