Kandy is supposedly a beautiful cultural colonial city. Reality is more like a dirty congested city with a few interesting sites. Started the day with the Ceylon Tea Museum tour. Very informative and a free cuppa at the end. Next stop the 14th century Buddhist Lankatilaka Temple. Lovely wall paintings and a great view of the valley. Wandered around downtown for a few hours stopping for coffee then headed for the cultural dance performance at the YMBA of Kandy. Also included some fire walking/eating. Dinner at a very bizarre hotel called Helga’s Folly high in the Kandy hills. Extremely oddly decorated. Virtually every wall and ceiling covered with either bric-a-brac or paintings.
