In March of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded like a car crash in slow motion, so did our travel plans. Our April trip to Korea, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and Australia slowly got whittled down, flight by cancelled flight, to just a trip to Australia. Finally, we accepted that even Australia wouldn’t let us in, and so we have stayed home for the better part of 2 years! We have visited family in Australia virtually almost weekly, but we can now get admitted in person and flights are booked for April, 2022. Two years to the month from the cancelled trip.
Our trip will be a single-country trip (unless we are forced to do a visa run somewhere!), with the sole purpose of visiting an about to be expanded family. We plan some nice side trips within Western Australia, including a beach holiday for a week. Maybe we’ll see roos on the beach like the one above.
