Took the Patagonia Express fast boat from Gili Air to Benoa Harbour on Bali. Seas were a bit rough so it was a slightly queasy ride (for Cindy). Checked in to our hotel on Jimbaran Beach and overhead folks talking about airline cancellations. Sure enough by the next morning our flight to Java was cancelled due to volcanic ash in the air. In the meantime, had fabulous, inexpensive seafood feast on the beach…the tide coming in and tickling our toes. Next morning, switched hotels and spent the day trying to make alternate arrangements for getting off Bali. Considered an overland bus but finally snagged a late night flight the following day. Excellent dinner in Kuta that night then lounged around the hotel pool on Saturday until our 8pm NAM Air flight (complete with multi-denominational prayer card!).
