Ella to Unawatuna

A long day’s drive from Ella to Unawatuna on the southwest coast. After a very tasty breakfast, stopped at Ravana Falls just south of Ella then continued on through Ella Gap to Wellawaya. Seven amazing stone carvings at the ancient Mahayana Buddhist 10th century temple at Buduruwagala Raja Maha Viharaya. 16m central Buddha is the tallest on the island. Carried on to the south coast which has some of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka. Finally reached Unawatuna and checked into our hotel on a fantastic beach. Saw the famous stilt fishermen on the beach next door.
