This must be the unluckiest trip that we have ever planned! We bought tickets in 2019 only to see the flights cancelled in 2020 when the pandemic hit. Bought another set of tickets in 2021 when things seemed to be looking up. Cancelled again! We know (or at least hope!) that we’ll do this trip someday, but not in 2022, that’s for sure.
UPDATE FOR 2023: After 4 long years, we are finally going to use the last of our travel credits accumulated from multiple trips cancelled due to COVID. A pretty different itinerary and theme, but at least we’re going!
ORIGINAL POST FROM 2019:
In 2015 we read an interesting article about a trip visiting sites from the life of Vincent Van Gogh to mark the 125th anniversary of his death. We didn’t take that trip, but the idea has stuck with us. In the fall of 2020 we’re flying to Paris, but with no firm plans as yet. We’ll probably see some of the Van Gogh sites, we might add a “Picasso Pilgrimage”, and there’s lots of other ideas on our “someday” list; return to Nice where we lived (briefly) 40 years ago, go to opera or Oktoberfest in Germany, or visit the Vimy Memorial. One thing that we definitely plan to do is visit Andorra, the only country in Continental Europe that we haven’t seen yet. (There are three nations that we’ve yet to get to in Scandinavia, but they are on the list! And Ireland isn’t part of Continental Europe either, but it too is on the list of places to get to when we switch to “easy” travel.)
