Early morning start on our hike up to Taktsang Monastery aka Tiger’s Nest. High altitude made hiking challenging as did the steep, rocky trail. Amazing views made it all worthwhile. Monastery itself is iconic, perched on a rock face. Was a tea house half way up so had a cuppa and some biscuits. Sadly, no photos allowed inside any temples in Bhutan. Post-trek stopped at 2 more Monasteries – Kyichu (659 AD) and Dumtse (1433 AD). Dumtse was fantastic, had 3 floors representing hell, earth, and heaven. Amazing wall paintings but too dark and of course forbidden.
