For years, we had wanted to add Japan to our “The Second 100” list of countries. Our first visit was just for a week (2017-1 – Australia II + Japan, Philippines – Apr-May, 2017) and we didn’t even visit Tokyo! We had always meant to do a combined Japan and Korea trip (and even had tickets when COVID disrupted our travel plans for the better part of three years).

Waiting meant that we had two good reasons to return to Japan for a second time, then carry on to Australia for our eighth trip “Down Under”. Those two good reasons are two new grandsons, one a Canadian-Australian dual citizen born in 2022, and the other born in 2024 and a dual citizen of Canada and Japan. Seeing them both in one trip was too good an opportunity to miss! We also got to meet our co-grandparents in Japan (while our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson were there), and then see our granddaughter, grandson, and our daughter and her partner in Australia. We have family everywhere! Good thing that we like to travel.

With a visit to Tokyo and Osaka while in Japan, and hitting100counties.info’s favourite stop in Fremantle, Beerpourium, it was a great trip.
