Update 2023: We have realized that this trip just isn’t going to happen as we originally envisioned. A greatly modified version will happen in 2023 though! Watch for posts from our Barcelona to Berlin trip.
The text below was written in 2019, when we had tickets to Paris in hand and the world had never heard of COVID. This was the second trip to fall victim to a COVID cancellation (three different times!). Check our Where We’re Going posts to see if we get there in 2023!
In 2015 we read an interesting article about a trip visiting sites from the life of Vincent Van Gogh to mark the 125th anniversary of his death. We didn’t take that trip, but the idea has stuck with us. In the fall of 2020 we’re flying to Paris, but with no firm plans as yet. We’ll probably see some of the Van Gogh sites, we might add a “Picasso Pilgrimage”, and there’s lots of other ideas on our “someday” list; return to Nice where we lived (briefly) 40 years ago, go to opera or Oktoberfest in Germany, or visit the Vimy Memorial. One thing that we definitely plan to do is visit Andorra, the only country in Continental Europe that we haven’t seen yet. (There are three nations that we’ve yet to get to in Scandinavia, but they are on the list! Ireland too.)
You can see some posts for Van Gogh sites on the Page for our Barcelona to Berlin trip.
